NGOs warn against use of EU money for environmentally harmful projects

Environmentally controversial projects in Central and Eastern Europe are receiving funds from the EU or have applied to do so, two NGOs have said, who are calling on the EU to stop "wasting" money and look into alternative possibilities.

How can the European Commission control that when its "experts" for funding change their post every 1.5 - 3 years and they have to read hundreds of proposals every month with no much time for training on the issue?
