Eurasia film festival brings glamour to Almaty

The fourth Eurasia film festival in Kazakhstan has attracted filmmakers from Central Asia, Asia and Europe. Some seventy films are being shown from about thirty countries.

The Kazakh Films studio a few kilometres outside Almaty is the centre of the country's cinema industry, a cultural centre that has reflected the changes the country has undergone since Soviet times. Afer independence it was here that films criticsing the past, and examing the present, were made.
